Canada's Ambassador in UN: Systematic discrimination against women in Afghanistan is quite evident

He has emphasized that gender apartheid is a reality in Afghanistan and this systematic discrimination against women is unprecedented.

A number of senior Canadian officials have emphasized in a meeting with Afghan journalists and activists in Ottawa today (Tuesday, 15) that they are working to hold the Taliban accountable for violating women's rights.

This meeting, which was organized by the Dashti Foundation and the House of Freedom of Expression, was hosted by the Parliament of Canada.

Meanwhile, David Sproul, Canada's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, says that four countries, including Canada, want to refer the case against Talban to the International Criminal Court.

In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Mr. Sproul said that they informed the Taliban about this issue; But they have not received an answer yet.

Following the Taliban's strict laws against women and widespread human rights violations in Afghanistan, Canada, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands warned in a joint action in September that they would bring the Taliban to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. However, the United Nations and more than 20 countries supported the announcement.

Bob Ray, Canada's ambassador to the United Nations, referring to the plight of women in Afghanistan, says that there is no such systematic, brutal and complete discrimination against women anywhere in the world.
