Amrullah Saleh: Cutting off U.S. aid to Taliban will pave the way for the Taliban’s downfall

Saleh wrote in a message on AX that Washington's "secret and unhealthy" aid in recent years has actually strengthened the Taliban's "illegitimate and anti-national" rule.

He believes that international pressure and economic isolation of the Taliban could lead to a faster collapse of the group.

He described the Taliban as a group "violent and alien to Afghanistan's cultural values" and expressed satisfaction with the cut-off of financial support for media outlets operating under the group's influence. Saleh added that some media outlets have become a tool to beautify the face of the Taliban leadership after the recent political developments.

Meanwhile, the US State Department has confirmed that food aid to Afghanistan and Yemen has been suspended due to the abuse of these programs by armed groups. According to the ministry spokesman, the main reason for the decision was the exploitation of these projects by the Taliban and Houthis.

Although some humanitarian organizations have blamed the US move for increasing the humanitarian crisis in vulnerable countries; But inside Afghanistan, a number of anti-Taliban figures have seen it as an opportunity to weaken the group.

Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh has called the decision a positive step towards weakening the group's dominance in response to the possible suspension of US aid to Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
