She believes that Wright, by smiling and showcasing her behavior in the face of the Taliban’s stringent measures, is attempting to present an appealing and whitewashed image of the Taliban regime, while Afghan women are deprived of their basic rights and subjected to oppression.
Alinejad added on this matter: “This whitewashing behavior ignores the bitter reality of imprisonment, beatings, and even death faced by women, and the easy presence of a Western star in a country where women face threats of prison or death for demanding basic rights is an example of the profound contradiction in international policies and attitudes.”
Whitney Wright and the Taliban have so far said nothing regarding this trip.
These reactions come at a time when the international community is paying special attention to human rights violations in countries like Afghanistan and Iran, and criticism of the repressive policies of these regimes is increasing day by day.
Masih Alinejad, a prominent women’s rights activist, reacted sharply and seriously to the presence and publication of images from Whitney Wright’s trip, an American porn star, to Afghanistan.
