Taliban behead former soldier in Badakhshan

Sources identified the former soldier as Mohammad Nabi, who had been arrested and tortured by the Taliban several times before.

Informed sources said on Tuesday that Taliban militants killed the former soldier in his home on the pretext of working for the previous government and following the Ismaili religion.

Sources add that Muhammad Nabi belonged to the Ismaili people.

The Taliban have not commented on the matter.

Despite the Taliban leadership's amnesty, human rights groups report that the Taliban have continued to arrest, torture and kill former soldiers over the past three years.

Local sources in Badakhshan confirmed that the Taliban brutally killed a former soldier in Zibak district three days ago.
