Macron's official invitation to Ahmed al-Sharaa to visit France

This trip is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, February 5, the invitation came after a telephone conversation between the two parties.
In this conversation, the issues of economic sanctions against the Syrian people and their effects on the situation in the country were discussed.
The invitation comes at a time when relations between Syria and France have been tense since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011. At the time, France was one of the Western countries that supported the opposition to the government of Bashar al-Assad and adopted tough policies against the Damascus government.
Macron's invitation to the Syrian transitional president indicates renewed efforts to reduce tensions and explore new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
However, it is still unclear what impact this meeting will have on the future of Syrian-French relations.
The Syrian presidential office has announced that French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Syrian transitional leader Ahmed al-Sharaa to visit Paris.
