Taliban in Badakhshan ban on shaving beards

Sources said on Friday (January 4) that Taliban security officials in the third district of Faizabad city said in a letter that shaving hair and beards is forbidden in Islamic law and people should avoid it.

Sources add that the Taliban have also told residents of Faizabad city not to leave their homes after 10 pm unless absolutely necessary.

The Taliban have continued to call on women to wear the Islamic veil when walking outside and to abide by the group's rules.

This is despite the fact that over the past three years, the Taliban have imposed widespread restrictions, further restricting and narrowing the lives of the country's citizens.

Local sources in Badakhshan say that the Taliban have issued a letter banning men from shaving their beards and cutting their hair in a Western style.
