They include children waiting to be reunited with their families, as well as those at risk of Taliban retaliation, Reuters reported on Monday.
Sean Vandiver, a US veteran who fought in Afghanistan and head of a coalition of supporters called the Afghan Citizens Evacuation Organization, told Reuters he was concerned that the Trump team had been warned of the danger.
He expressed hope that the matter would be reviewed.
The new White House website said Trump was "suspending refugee resettlement and straining community security and resources after communities were forced to accommodate large numbers of immigrants."
