The Taliban are on the path to isolation; Andisheh: This group still does not understand diplomacy

He emphasized that this group not only lacks the authority to make such a decision but also reveals its own incompetence with each diplomatic stance.
Mr. Andisha wrote in a note on the social media platform X that only official governments can withdraw from the Rome Statute, and this process requires following legal procedures, including sending an official notice to the United Nations.
He stated that the Taliban are unaware of international legal processes and only embarrass themselves with each diplomatic statement.
He added that Afghanistan remains a member of this treaty, and the International Criminal Court can address crimes committed in the country from 2003 to the present.
He stressed that this action by the Taliban indicates their isolationist tendencies and, contrary to their efforts to gain international legitimacy, such decisions only weaken their position on the global stage.
According to him, the Taliban seek to control diplomatic institutions and participate on the international stage; however, they refuse to accept the responsibilities of a government, including commitments to global treaties.
Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan's representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council, described the Taliban's declaration regarding withdrawal from the Rome Statute as a symbolic and ineffective act.
