Sirajuddin Haqqani attends Kandahar security meeting after two-month absence

The meeting, which included senior Taliban officials such as Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, the defense minister, and Abdul Haq Wasiq, the head of Taliban intelligence, addressed security issues, troop equipping, and improving discipline.
This marks the first time Haqqani has participated in an official session chaired by Akhundzada since tensions escalated between Haqqani and the Taliban leadership.
Over the past two months, he had been absent from the group’s key meetings and was rarely seen at his office in Kabul.
Coinciding with Haqqani’s return to Taliban leadership sessions, news emerged in the media about the removal of the $10 million bounty that the United States had placed on his arrest.
Some analysts view this development as a factor in his return to the Taliban’s leadership structure, though no precise details about potential agreements within the group have been disclosed yet.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, announced that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the group’s interior minister, attended a security meeting led by Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada in Kandahar after nearly two months of absence.
