Taliban remove anti-American slogans from the wall of US embassy in Kabul

According to Kabul residents, the attack took place a day before the US delegation arrived and the Taliban painted the embassy wall.

Earlier, the walls of the embassy were decorated with the logo of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and phrases such as "With divine help, our nation defeated America." The US embassy in Kabul has been closed since the fall of the previous government in August 2014 and has not reopened.

Washington at the time described Qatar as the protector of its interests in Afghanistan and its official contacts with the Taliban through the country.

The developments come as a US delegation visited Kabul for the first time in three and a half years on Thursday.

The delegation was led by Adam Bowler, the president's special envoy for hostages, and accompanied by former US envoy to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.

Following the US delegation's visit to Kabul, the Taliban removed anti-American slogans and the word "La ilaha illa Allah Muhammad Rasool Allah" from the walls of the US embassy.
