An Iranian official: Afghan immigrants are prohibited from staying in East Azerbaijan

Mr. Moghari pointed to the massive influx of Afghan migrants into Iran after the Taliban took control on Monday, claiming that their crimes were tangible.


According to Iranian media reports, he said that according to high-level resolutions and documents, Afghan citizens are prohibited from staying in a number of provinces, including East Azerbaijan, even with residence permits.


Mr. Moghari said industrial complexes in Iran use Afghan migrant labor; He called on the judicial and police authorities to take serious action against the recruitment companies.


Meanwhile, the human rights organization Hangao, which monitors the human rights situation in Iran, has said in a new report that governmental and social racism against Afghan migrants is on the rise.


Despite the recent violent clashes against Afghan migrants, Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized the role of Afghan migrants in unemployment and crime in the country.

Ahmad Moghari, deputy prosecutor of East Azerbaijan, said the activities of Afghan citizens in the province were prohibited even with residence permits and violators would be dealt with severely.
