Canadian PM: The probability of a recession in the US has increased

He warned that such a situation would also have a significant negative impact on the Canadian economy.

He added that he had spoken to the Governor of the Bank of Canada and his country's Finance Minister about this matter.

Carney's remarks come as the Trump administration has imposed sweeping tariffs on imports from countries including China, the European Union, Japan, South Korea, Australia and India.

The current tariff rate on Chinese goods is 34%, and the US has threatened to increase this rate by another 50%.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that the likelihood of an economic recession in the country has increased significantly following the imposition of heavy tariffs by the US President.
