Journalists' Protection Organization: Arrests of Afghan journalists intensified in Pakistan







The organization said in a statement that a number of journalists and their family members have been arrested by Pakistani police as the detention and deportation of Afghan refugees intensifies.
The organization added that on Tuesday, Pakistani police in Islamabad arrested an Afghan journalist. Also, a day earlier, another Afghan journalist, Zakia Kavian, was arrested by Pakistani security forces.
These measures come at a time when Afghan journalists in Pakistan are in a difficult and unfortunate situation.
The Afghanistan Organization for the Protection of Journalists has expressed strong concern over the situation of Afghan journalists in Pakistan and called on Pakistani authorities to stop unjustified detentions.
The organization also called on the international community to address the critical situation of Afghan journalists in the country.
After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, many Afghan journalists fled to Pakistan; But now they face many problems, including arrests and deportations.
Many of these journalists are seeking asylum in safe countries; But the process of transferring them faces many obstacles.
The Organization for the Protection of Journalists (OJP) has reported that Afghan journalists are being detained and threatened in Pakistan, and their situation is critical.
