The Daily Telegraph: Relying on the Taliban to fight ISIS is a mistake
Security researcher James Snell said the cooperation would only strengthen extremist groups. "The Taliban can't even protect themselves against ISIS, so we can't use them to defend us against terrorists," he said.
Snell also emphasized that the Taliban government itself was responsible for the growth of ISIS in Afghanistan and that they should not be trusted as an ally against terrorism.
He referred to the establishment of Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri in Kabul after the fall of the previous government and said: "The Taliban has once again invited terrorist groups to Afghanistan."
The report also raised concerns about the normalization of US relations with the Taliban, including the visit of American delegations to Kabul, and called for greater scrutiny in this regard.
