U.S. CRF: The situation of religious minorities in Afghanistan under Taliban rule is deteriorating







The commission said the Taliban's ministry of enjoining good played a "prominent role" in violating religious freedoms in the country.
The US Commission on Religious Freedom released a report on Wednesday accusing the Taliban of systematic violations of religious freedom and calling for sanctions against the group's officials.
The commission called on Washington to designate Taliban-controlled Afghanistan as a 'country of special concern'.
The report said religious freedoms of minorities such as Sikhs, Hindus, Christians and Shia Muslims in Afghanistan were severely restricted under Taliban rule.
