Iran Executes Two Jailed Afghan Citizens Again

These two prisoners, who had been convicted of drug-related crimes, were executed alongside five other Baluch prisoners on Saturday morning, the eleventh of Dalw.

According to the organization’s report, the identities of the executed Afghan prisoners have been announced as S. Zarei, 28 years old, and A. Charikar, 30 years old. Both were Afghan nationals residing in Kerman and had been detained in a joint case for the past two years.

Reports indicate that following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, the number of executions of Afghan prisoners in Iran has increased. According to the Iran Human Rights Organization’s annual report, in 2024, 503 individuals were executed in Iran on drug-related charges.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned about the rising trend of executions in Iran, particularly among Afghan prisoners and ethnic minorities, and have called for an end to these executions.

The Iran Human Rights Organization announced that the Islamic Republic of Iran has executed two Afghan citizen prisoners in Zahedan Central Prison.
