Islamabad makes counter-terrorism cooperation a condition for trade with Afghanistan

The newspaper has written that Islamabad is concerned about the ongoing security threats posed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group and has asked the Afghan Taliban to take serious action against this group.
The Dawn newspaper has emphasized that Pakistan cannot tolerate a hostile government in Kabul and stresses that trade and transit cooperation between the two countries must be conditional on the Taliban’s actions against terrorist groups.
This comes at a time when Afghanistan, as a landlocked country, relies on Pakistan’s trade routes for its exports and imports.
Analysts believe that deteriorating relations with Pakistan could negatively impact the Taliban’s economic situation and their efforts to gain international legitimacy.
On the other hand, Pakistani officials have also warned that the Taliban’s lack of cooperation in this regard may lead to a shift in Islamabad’s policies toward Kabul.
A Pakistani newspaper, Dawn, has written in an article that relations between Pakistan and Afghan Taliban have faced increasing tensions.
