UNAMA: Taliban continue disappearances of former military personnel, corporal punishment

UNAMA said in a report on Thursday that at least five former soldiers had been killed and at least 10 other cases of torture and ill-treatment had been registered in the past three months.


UNAMA has documented at least 24 cases of arbitrary detention by former government security forces in the past three months, the report said.


In the past three months, the Taliban have physically tortured at least 111 people, including 16 women, across Afghanistan on various charges, UNAMA said.


The report also mentions ISIS attacks; According to the report, at least 28 civilians have been killed and 50 wounded in four ISIS attacks in the past three months.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNAMA) has said in its quarterly report on the situation in Afghanistan that the killings, detentions, disappearances and torture of former soldiers continue in Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
