Koofi: Warrants should also be issued for the Taliban's ministers of higher education and virtue







In an interview with CNN on Thursday, Ms. Kofi also called for an arrest warrant for Taliban Higher Education Minister Neda Mohammad Nadim and Taliban Minister of Public Affairs Khalid Hanafi.
He said Taliban officials were responsible for crimes against humanity and gender-based discrimination and should be held accountable for their crimes.
Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, on Thursday called for the arrest of Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah and Supreme Court chief Abdul Hakim Haqqani.
Karim Khan said the two Taliban leaders were responsible for "crimes against humanity" and gender-based violence in Afghanistan under the Rome Statute.
Former Afghan parliamentarian Fawzia Kofi welcomed the request for the arrest of the Taliban leader and the group's chief justice, saying it was a "fresh breeze in the current suffocating and dark atmosphere" for Afghan women.
