Canada: Pursuing the case of dragging the Taliban to the International Criminal Court

Mr. Sproul said in an interview with the Globe and Mail that they informed the Taliban about this issue; But they have not received an answer yet.

He emphasized that if there is no answer, the process of referring the case against Talban to the criminal court in The Hague will be followed.

Referring to the limitations and widespread violations of human rights, especially the rights of women, Canada's special representative said that the current Taliban are no different from the Taliban of the 90s.

Following the Taliban's strict laws against women and widespread human rights violations in Afghanistan, Canada, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands warned in a joint action in September that they would bring the Taliban to the International Criminal Court in The Hague. However, the United Nations and more than 20 countries supported the announcement.

David Sproul, Canada's special representative for Afghanistan affairs, says that four countries, including Canada, want to refer the case against Talban to the International Criminal Court.
