Maryam Nawaz: Afghan girls deprived of education is regrettable

Emphasizing the importance of education for all, especially girls, he said: "Education is a force for empowerment and building a better future."

In her speech, Maryam Nawaz announced the establishment of the first artificial intelligence university in Lahore, calling it a step towards transforming Pakistan's education system.

She added: "By investing in technology-based education, we are preparing the young generation for an intelligent future."

He also referred to the humanitarian situation in crisis-hit areas such as Palestine, Jammu and Kashmir, Sudan, and Afghanistan, saying: "In Afghanistan, girls are deprived of the right to education, while education should know no boundaries or limitations."

These statements are made at a time when the Taliban, since returning to power, have closed the doors of middle schools, high schools, and universities to girls, depriving them of participation in educational and work fields.

Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan, expressed regret at the educational deprivation of girls in Afghanistan at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 in Türkiye.
