Women's protest movement: August 15 is a reminder of organized domestic and foreign betrayals

The coalition, on Friday (August 24), emphasized in a published statement that with the fall of the republic system and the beginning of the Taliban's occupation of Afghanistan, the darkest chapter in the country's history was written.

The statement reads: "August 15 is a reminder of organized internal and external betrayals and the beginning of a complete catastrophe for the people, especially the women and girls of Afghanistan."

The protest coalition further added in part of the statement: "The Taliban, with their misogynistic policies and medieval laws, have effectively deprived half of the country's population of the right to a dignified life. Girls have been expelled from schools and universities, women have been dismissed from workplaces, and basic human freedoms are being destroyed daily in the grip of violence and terror."

The coalition also emphasized that the Taliban lack national and international legitimacy, and any political or diplomatic engagement with this group is a clear betrayal of human rights and the will of the Afghan people.

They noted that the Taliban's rule is illegal and imposed, forced upon the Afghan people through the use of weapons and the support of regional and global terror networks.

The Independent Coalition of Afghan Women's Protest Movements has called on the international community to stand with the women and people of Afghanistan and refrain from any recognition of this group.

The Independent Coalition of Afghan Women's Protest Movements has stated in a declaration that the Taliban have destroyed all achievements of the past two decades in the areas of freedom of expression, education, work, political participation, and women's citizenship rights.
