Israel and Hamas reach preliminary agreement; Hostage release and Israeli troop withdrawal

Trump described this day as “a great day for the Arab and Islamic world, Israel, all countries in the region, and also the United States,” stating that this agreement is the first step toward achieving “a strong, lasting, and eternal peace.”

In a message, he wrote: “We thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event a reality. Blessed are the peacemakers!”

Meanwhile, Netanyahu said: “From the bottom of my heart, I thank President Trump and his team for their commitment to this sacred mission of freeing our hostages.”

He also described this development as “a great day for Israel” and added that on Thursday, his government will convene to approve the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which aims to bring all hostages back home.

It is worth noting that this war, which has lasted two years, began following Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. In this attack, approximately 1,200 people were killed in Israel, and nearly 250 individuals were taken hostage by Hamas. In contrast, over 60,000 people have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip, and the region has suffered widespread destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis.

Donald Trump, President of the United States, announced on Thursday, October 9, in a post on the social media platform Truth Social that an agreement between Hamas and Israel has been reached. He stated that all hostages held in Gaza will soon be released, and Israeli forces will withdraw from the region in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
