UNHCR expresses concern over deportation of Afghan refugees from 16 Pakistani villages

In a statement released on Wednesday, 16 Mizan, the agency stated that many Afghan migrants have lived in Pakistan for many years and have established their livelihoods there.


Filippa Candler, the UNHCR representative in Pakistan, warned that the forced expulsion of these migrants could have severe consequences for their lives and their reintegration into Afghan society.


According to her, the Pakistani government has asked Afghan residents in the aforementioned 16 villages to leave their places of residence as soon as possible.


The UN representative has urged the Pakistani government to carry out the expulsion process gradually and with respect for human dignity.


The UNHCR has also warned about the forced return of Afghan women and girls, emphasizing that they will be deprived of access to their fundamental rights in Afghanistan.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has expressed concern over the expulsion of Afghan migrants from 16 villages in Pakistan’s Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
