UN: Women and girls most affected by earthquake in eastern Afghanistan

According to this organization's report, more than half of the fatalities or injured in this disaster have been women, who are now facing a shortage of clean water and growing threats such as gender-based violence and child marriage.

The report emphasizes that most women have been deprived of receiving humanitarian aid. In particular, women who are heads of households do not know where to go to receive assistance or are afraid of relocating in search of help.

This report, prepared by the "Gender in Humanitarian Action" working group in Afghanistan, has been compiled based on initial data collected from the affected districts, field visits, group discussions with women and girls, opinions of humanitarian staff, and reports from international organizations.

This organization has called for immediate and sustained support for women active in the field of humanitarian aid in response to the earthquakes and has also urged the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations to continue cooperating and providing funding for women-centered organizations that are at the forefront of the response.

The "Global Initiative on Humanitarian Action" (GIHA) has once again warned that women and girls have suffered the most damage in the recent earthquakes in eastern Afghanistan.
