UN: Afghan women face violence on their way to education and work

On Wednesday, (22 Asad), the organization wrote in a post on the social network X that since taking control of Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban has deprived girls above the sixth grade from continuing their education.

The UN Women’s section, referring to the critical situation of women’s education, announced that it has now launched a special internship program to support female university graduates, paving the way for their entry into the job market and acquisition of professional skills.

The organization also emphasized that discrimination and marginalization against women and girls are not limited to Afghanistan and exist in many countries around the world.

Since the Taliban’s return to power, the group has issued dozens of restrictive decrees, banning women from most social and public spheres and effectively excluding them from participating in society.

The United Nations has announced that women and girls in Afghanistan face harassment, violence, and widespread restrictions when attempting to access education or employment.
