Killings of former military personnel continue; Two former officers killed in Khost and Baghlan

According to sources, this incident occurred on Friday, the fourth of Mizan, in Khost province.

Sources add that this individual was killed by people affiliated with the Taliban.

Meanwhile, another former military officer was shot dead by unknown armed individuals on Thursday night, the third of Mizan, in Baghlan province.

According to sources, this former military officer was named Faiz Mohammad and was a native of Kohna city, part of the Baghlan Markazi district.

Based on information from sources, Faiz Mohammad was an officer in the public order forces during the previous government and had gone to Iran after the fall of the republic system; however, he was forcibly deported from that country some time ago.

Sources add that after being deported from Iran, he was living in Kabul; but recently, he had returned to his home in the Baghlan Markazi district.

The motive behind these killings is still unclear, and the Taliban have not commented on the matter.

The killing of former military personnel by the Taliban and unknown individuals is not unprecedented. Reports indicate that over the past four years, hundreds of former military personnel have been detained, tortured, and killed by the Taliban.

Although the Taliban announced a "general amnesty" after returning to power, the United Nations and human rights organizations have repeatedly documented the detention, torture, and killing of former military personnel.

Local sources in Khost say that a former National Security officer named Commander Samad was shot dead by unknown individuals in this province.
