A Turkish extremist party called for the deportation of Afghan refugees

Özdağ, who has consistently opposed Turkey's support for refugees, described migrants as a threat to national security.

Referring to the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran, he stated that Syrian and Afghan migrants should be returned to their countries in accordance with Turkish laws.

This comes as Iran, simultaneously with the end of Israel's attacks, has continuously and daily expelled tens of thousands of Afghan migrants, a process that is still ongoing.

According to official statistics, in 2024, 139,251 Afghan migrants are legally residing in Turkey. The number of undocumented migrants is unclear; however, Turkey's Immigration Office announced that in the same year, over 230,000 illegal migrants were identified, detained, and deported across the country. Operations to detain these migrants are still ongoing.

The leader of Turkey's Victory Party has called for the expulsion of Afghan and Syrian refugees by the Erdoğan government.
