Australia and New Zealand to recognize Palestine in September

Anthony Albanese, the Prime Minister of Australia, stated in a press conference that his country will recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.

He said that Australia’s decision will take effect once Palestine declares its commitments.

He emphasized: “The two-state solution is humanity’s best hope for breaking the cycle of violence in the Middle East and ending the conflicts, suffering, and hunger in Gaza.”

Meanwhile, New Zealand has also announced that it will recognize the state of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly.

Israel, which is under increasing pressure to end the war in Gaza, has stated that recognizing a Palestinian state “rewards terrorism.”

Previously, countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Canada have also spoken about the issue of recognizing the state of Palestine.

It is noteworthy that so far, 147 countries, including 75 percent of the United Nations member states, have recognized Palestine as an independent state.
