A 7.5 magnitude earthquake shook South America

This earthquake occurred on Thursday night, 710 kilometers southeast of the city of Ushuaia, in the Drake Passage.


According to the United States Geological Survey, the initial depth of the earthquake was 10.8 kilometers.


Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has stated that there is no threat of a tsunami following this earthquake. The center had previously issued a brief warning for the coasts of Chile.


The Drake Passage connects the South Atlantic Ocean to the South Pacific Ocean and is located between the southernmost point of South America and the Antarctic Peninsula.


No details of casualties or damages from this earthquake have been reported so far.

The United States Geological Survey has announced that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 has struck South America.
