Pakistan Army denies conducting recent airstrikes in Afghanistan

Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistani army, stated that Islamabad openly announces any military operations it conducts and added that his country never targets civilians. He rejected the claims of Taliban officials and said these statements may be related to internal problems in Afghanistan.

Chaudhry also emphasized that the Taliban regime must behave like a government, not an armed group, and accept the responsibilities expected of an official administration.

This reaction comes as the Taliban, on Monday night, 3 Qaws, attributed a series of airstrikes in the provinces of Khost, Paktika, and Kunar to Pakistan and called it a violation of Afghan airspace.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, said on Tuesday, 4 Qaws, that these attacks will not go unanswered. According to him, in Khost, 10 people, including 9 children and one woman, were killed, and in Kunar and Paktika, four civilians were also wounded.

The Pakistani army has announced that it had no role in the airstrikes carried out in Shama on Monday within Afghan territory and that, in the event of any attack being carried out, it would officially take responsibility for it.
