Lavrov: Western countries' military presence in Afghanistan is a threat to regional security

Lavrov said that efforts to redeploy military forces of non-regional countries in Afghanistan are not only contrary to the interests of the Afghan people but also endanger regional security. He added that the experience of the past 20 years has shown that the presence of foreign military forces in Afghanistan has resulted in nothing but instability and the spread of terrorism.

Russia's Foreign Minister emphasized that regional countries must play the primary role in resolving the Afghan crisis, and Moscow seeks a "regional solution" to ensure stability in the country.

Referring to the need for forming an inclusive government, he said: "Sustainable security in Afghanistan is only possible when the Taliban is formed with the genuine participation of all ethnic groups and political factions."

Lavrov also called on the international community to release Afghanistan's frozen assets and provide humanitarian aid to the Afghan people without any political preconditions.

These statements come amid recent discussions about the potential return of U.S. military forces to Afghanistan and efforts to retake the Bagram base, which have provoked strong reactions from the Taliban and its regional allies, including Russia and Iran.

Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Foreign Minister, in his speech at the seventh "Moscow Format" meeting, warned about the situation in Afghanistan, stating that any military presence or intervention by non-regional countries on Afghan soil poses a direct threat to the security and stability of Central Asia and South Asia.
