Rubio: Violence in West Bank could jeopardize Gaza ceasefire

Rubio, expressing concern over this violence, said that it has now spread to other areas and could jeopardize the ceasefire in Gaza and undermine the peace efforts in Gaza that are being carried out with U.S. support.

He added: "I hope it doesn't turn out that way; we don't expect it to, and we will do everything we can to prevent it."

Meanwhile, the violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank and surrounding areas has escalated. Just on Tuesday, settlers attacked the villages of Beit Lid and Deir Sharaf, setting fire to four dairy trucks, agricultural lands, shacks, and tents belonging to a Bedouin community.

Palestinian officials have described these attacks as part of a campaign to drive Palestinians from their land and have accused Israel of providing support and impunity to the settlers.

Nevertheless, Israeli police announced that they had arrested four Israelis on charges of what they described as "extremist violence."

Marco Rubio, the United States Secretary of State, stated at the G7 foreign ministers' meeting that he is concerned about the recent violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank.
