Two Afghan asylum seekers arrested in Britain on charges of rape and kidnapping

The Mail on Sunday newspaper reported on Saturday, August 11, that Ahmad Malakhil, 23 years old, is the main suspect in this case and has been placed under judicial pursuit on the evening of Tuesday, July 22, for the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl.


The second suspect, Mohammad Kabir, 23 years old, has also been arrested on charges of rape, strangulation, and kidnapping of this teenage girl, who is said to be currently under intensive care.


Warwickshire Police announced that Ahmad Malakhil was arrested four days after the incident and was formally charged the following day. He appeared in Coventry Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he was charged with sexual assault.


Mohammad Kabir was arrested on Thursday and appeared in Magistrates' Court on Saturday. He is to remain in custody until the Royal Court hearing scheduled for August 26.


Meanwhile, sources told the Mail on Sunday that the police have advised local authorities to refrain from disclosing the asylum background of the two suspects. This decision has raised concerns about police secrecy regarding sensitive cases.


However, Warwickshire Police stated in a statement that disclosing sensitive information could jeopardize the judicial process, and certain details will only be released if necessary and in accordance with confidentiality principles.


At the same time, the UK Home Office has obtained CCTV footage showing one of the suspects walking with the victim approximately half an hour before the incident occurred.


This incident has taken place amid heated discussions in the UK about handling asylum seekers' cases, ensuring public safety, and the transparency of security institutions in dealing with crimes.

British media have reported that two Afghan asylum seekers have been arrested and formally charged with rape, strangulation, and kidnapping of a teenage girl in the city of Nuneaton, located in the quiet Warwickshire region.
