Farid Mamondzi, the last ambassador of the Republic, returned to Kabul from New Delhi

The ministry stated in a newsletter on Sunday (26 Asad) that Farid Mamundzai, upon returning to Kabul, met with Abdul Kabir, the acting head of the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.

The Taliban’s newsletter stated that Mr. Mamundzai “expressed satisfaction with the Taliban’s cooperation” and “considered the current security important for Afghanistan’s future.”

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir claimed during the meeting that following the announcement of a “general amnesty,” no one would be held accountable for their past duties, and “no one would dare to do such a thing.”

This claim comes despite international and human rights organizations repeatedly documenting the arrest, torture, and killing of former military personnel. According to reports, over the past four years, hundreds of former military personnel and government employees have been detained, tortured, and in some cases killed by the Taliban.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced that Farid Mamundzai, the last ambassador of the former Afghan government in New Delhi, has returned to Kabul.
