Nabil: Afghanistan's internet shutdown is part of Taliban's repressive policy

On Tuesday, 8 Mizan, Nabil wrote on his X page that the Taliban, by “silencing the people,” seeks to prevent the expression of protests and social freedoms. According to him, when religion and ideology become tools of domination, suppressing freedoms and blocking avenues of expression become a consistent rule for consolidating power.

He emphasized that cutting off communications is a significant tool for preventing the free flow of information and further weakening civil society. Nabil added that this Taliban approach demonstrates that silencing the people is part of a long-term strategy for controlling society, not a temporary decision.

Rahmatullah Nabil, the former head of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, in response to the widespread suspension of internet and telecommunication services the country, stated that this action is merely a technical issue but part of a calculated policy to maintain and consolidate power.
