Shocking report: Taliban torture prisoners for fun

This report was prepared based on interviews with 34 individuals (including 7 women) who were detained after the Taliban's return to power until the beginning of 2025.

According to the findings, 33 of these individuals were detained and tortured without a legal warrant, formal charges, or adherence to fair trial principles. The tortures included beatings, rape, prolonged confinement in solitary cells, transportation with black bags in the trunk of vehicles, deprivation of healthcare services, adequate food, and access to a defense lawyer.

Rawadari has stated that in some cases, Taliban intelligence officers tortured prisoners solely for "amusement and entertainment."

Additionally, the cases of 24 detainees were never sent to judicial authorities, and 27 individuals reported having no access to a defense lawyer.

This human rights organization has warned that there is currently no independent entity to monitor prisons in Afghanistan and has called on the international community to pressure the Taliban to adhere to the provisions of the Convention Against Torture.

The human rights organization "Rawadari" has announced in an investigative report that the Taliban have tortured prisoners physically, psychologically, and sexually.
