Beijing to host military parade with Putin and Kim Jong-un next week

This military parade, marking China's "Victory Day" on September 3, is held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and Japan's official surrender.

The event is considered a significant diplomatic victory for Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who has long sought to strengthen China's position in the global order.

Putin and Kim will be among 26 other world leaders expected to attend the parade. This marks the first time a North Korean leader has participated in a Chinese military parade since 1959.

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to meet with Kim, who rarely makes foreign trips. Meanwhile, the White House is working to secure an agreement to end the war in Ukraine.

This event takes place a few weeks before Trump's potential trip to Asia. The U.S. President is also preparing to meet with Xi Jinping to finalize agreements on tariffs and other issues.

Next week's meeting between Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong-un will strengthen his position in any potential summit with Donald Trump.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has announced that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in a military parade in Beijing next week.
