Muhammad Alam Kohken, Uzbek poet and writer, dies in America

Mr. Kohkan’s family has confirmed that he passed away on Wednesday night, 12 Sunbula, due to a prolonged illness.


Alam Kohkan was one of the founders of the private television channel Ayna and worked for many years as the head of the Uzbek section of Ariana Television.


He was born in 1341 in the Khwaja Sabzposh district of Faryab province and passed away at the age of 63 in the United States.


Among Mr. Kohkan’s published works are “Uzbek Literature and Culture” and the poetry collection “I Fell to the Ground for You.” His analytical, social, and cultural articles have been published in various newspapers. Additionally, he translated the books “The Prayer of the Sea” by Khaled Hosseini and “The Jewel of Ghazni” by Nasir Ahmad Ahmadi into the Uzbek language.

Mohammad Alam Kohkan, a poet and writer in the Uzbek language and a prominent journalist of the country, passed away in the United States due to illness.
