Malala Foundation announces $3 million to educate Afghan girls

The foundation stated on Thursday, 30 Saur, in a published statement that a significant portion of this budget will be spent on online and in-person educational programs.

The statement noted that this aid, which covers tens of thousands of girls inside Afghanistan, will include digital skills training, psychological counseling, and preparation for university entry, in addition to formal education.

The Malala Yousafzai Foundation emphasized that one of the goals of these programs is to advocate for the recognition of "gender apartheid" as a crime against humanity.

Sahar Halimzai, the Afghanistan program manager at the Malala Foundation, said: "We stand with the girls and women who refuse to be erased from the scene and are fighting to end gender apartheid."

This comes as the Taliban, after returning to power, have barred girls above the sixth grade from attending school and female students from attending universities.

Furthermore, according to reports, the Taliban, upon their return to power, issued at least dozens of restrictive decrees against women, effectively marginalizing them from society entirely.

The Malala Yousafzai Foundation announced in a statement that it has allocated over three million dollars to support the education of Afghan girls and combat gender apartheid.
