Cutting the fiber optic chain; Afghanistan on the verge of internet blackout

According to these sources, this decision has been made on the orders of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, and is set to be implemented across Afghanistan in the near future.

Currently, in a number of provinces including Kabul, users have no access to fiber optic internet and are reporting serious issues in using the internet.

Meanwhile, some visual and audio media outlets have issued warnings through announcements that this action has caused major disruptions to their broadcasts.

The Taliban had previously also temporarily or limitedly cut off access to fiber optic internet in some provinces; but this time, sources say that a nationwide internet shutdown is on the way.

Local sources in several provinces of the country have confirmed that access to fiber optic internet has been completely halted.
