At least 1.5 million people in the Gaza Strip need urgent shelter

The organization, referring to the displacement of approximately 90 percent of Gaza's population, stated that currently, at least one and a half million people in the Gaza Strip are in urgent need of shelter.

According to the International Organization for Migration's report, since the announcement of the ceasefire earlier this month, 31,000 shelter items, including 2,500 tents, have been sent to Gaza; however, this amount is far less than the actual needs of the residents, as people's homes in northern Gaza have been completely destroyed.

It is worth noting that since the start of the ceasefire on October 10, dozens of Palestinians in Gaza have been killed due to Israeli airstrikes and shootings; an action that, according to Gaza officials, is considered a violation of this fragile agreement.

Furthermore, this war, which has lasted for two years, began following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. In that attack, approximately 1,200 people were killed in Israel, and nearly 250 were taken hostage by Hamas. In contrast, over 60,000 people have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip, and the region has faced widespread destruction and a severe humanitarian crisis.

The International Organization for Migration has announced that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip still have a severe need for shelter.
