Taliban Defense Minister: Afghanistan has failed to maintain its independence

He warned that conditions should not be created that would “once again lead to the loss of the country’s freedom” and emphasized that national unity must be based on “Islam and Afghan identity.”


Mullah Yaqoob said in his speech: “Prejudices must not be allowed.” He added that Taliban forces will not be used in favor of one power against another and stressed that the group seeks good relations with all countries of the world.


According to him, Afghanistan must remain vigilant against “foreign conspiracies” and not allow any country to interfere in the internal affairs of this land.

Yaqoob Mujahid, the Taliban’s Defense Minister, stated during a ceremony commemorating the 106th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence that the people of this country have succeeded in gaining independence three times over the past century but have always failed to preserve it.
