Nai reported the arrest of five Afghan journalists and media workers by Pakistani police.

This organization supporting Afghan journalists stated in a press release on Tuesday (November 24) that these journalists are at risk of forced deportation to Afghanistan.

"NI in Exile" has expressed deep concern and urged the Pakistani government not to use Afghan journalists as a tool to pressure the Taliban. The organization emphasized that the detainees have not only been deprived of their freedom but have also been subjected to physical and psychological violence; actions that are "inhumane" and violate both international law and Pakistan's national laws.

The NI statement noted that the deportation of journalists and other members of Afghan civil society places their lives in serious danger, and protecting these individuals is the responsibility of the host country. Furthermore, using Afghan migrants as a tool to pressure the Taliban is contrary to both religious principles and international law.

It is worth noting that the detention and deportation of Afghan migrants in Pakistan has intensified in recent weeks, with reports emerging of beatings of refugees, particularly women.

NI in Exile has announced that in the past 24 hours, five Afghan journalists and media workers have been violently detained in Islamabad.
