World Food Programme: $568 million needed for aid in Afghanistan over next six months

The programme, on Monday, 31 Sunbula, wrote in a post on its X account that 4.7 million and children in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition.

The World Food Programme stated that the forced return of migrants from neighboring countries, acute malnutrition, and relentless drought are plunging families into the depths of crisis.

On the other hand, the United Nations Development Programme had previously announced that the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan left behind more than 649,000 tons of debris and emphasized the urgent need to provide shelter, food, water, and health services for the affected.

It is worth mentioning that since the Taliban's return to power, poverty, destitution, food insecurity, and unemployment among the country's citizens have reached their peak.

The United Nations World Food Programme, in a newsletter, has requested $568 million in funding to provide aid to those in need in Afghanistan over the next six months.
