New study: More than 90 percent of women in Afghanistan are out of work

This research, titled "The Impact of Taliban Decrees on Women and Girls in Afghanistan," shows that the Taliban's restrictive decrees have led to widespread violence and the deprivation of women from all areas of public life.

The findings of this study indicate that these restrictions have increased psychological and economic problems and have caused violence and deprivation of women from education.

The research states that 98.5 percent of Afghanistan's citizens have supported the right to education and schooling for girls.

This study was conducted between October 2024 and March 2025 in the provinces of Kabul, Herat, Badakhshan, Wardak, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Bamyan, Ghor, and Logar.

The findings also show that 36 percent of women have experienced various forms of psychological, economic, physical, and sexual violence, and 65.4 percent of other women have experienced violence in general.

Based on this research, 95 percent of women are deprived of the right to travel without a male guardian and to use public transportation; restrictions that have had catastrophic consequences for women.

In conclusion, the Women's and Children's Research and Advocacy Network has called for increased international pressure on the Taliban and the recognition of gender apartheid as a crime against humanity.

The Women's and Children's Research and Advocacy Network has written in a report that after the Taliban's takeover, more than 90 percent of women in Afghanistan have lost their jobs.
