Iranian official to Trump: Taliban will not hand over Bagram base to you

Larijani, on Wednesday, 9 Mehr, stated in an interview with the media that the U.S. presence in the region will face resistance.

He emphasized that airstrikes cannot overthrow regimes like the Islamic Republic and that U.S. military interventions in the region's countries are deadly for American soldiers.

This Iranian official added that the U.S., with Israel's assistance, may destroy countries in the region but will not be able to maintain control over them.

This comes as Donald Trump, the U.S. President, had previously called for control over the airbase and warned the Taliban that if they do not hand it over, "bad things" will happen. He described Bagram Airbase as crucial for monitoring China's nuclear activities and, despite his threatening tone, expressed hope that an agreement could be reached with the Taliban regarding it.

Previously, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban's Foreign Minister, had also emphasized that the Taliban is not willing to cede "even an inch of Afghanistan's soil" for the presence of foreign military forces, and that the group's interactions with the United States will be limited to political and economic domains.

Donald Trump has repeatedly stressed the strategic importance of Bagram, describing it as vital for military and surveillance objectives against China and the region. He stated in his recent remarks that negotiations to retake the airbase are ongoing.

Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in response to recent statements by Donald Trump regarding the recapture of Bagram Airbase, said that the Taliban is not willing to hand over Afghan soil to the United States.
