Five Afghan citizens executed in Iran in one month

On Sunday, 12 Asad, the organization stated in a report that Iran executed a total of 96 prisoners in July 2025, of which five were Afghan citizens.


Hengaw added that this figure represents an increase of 41 cases compared to July 2024, indicating a 74.5 percent rise. In the same period last year, at least 55 prisoners were executed.


According to the report, most of the individuals executed in July were accused of drug-related offenses.


Hengaw did not provide details about the identity of the executed individuals, and the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have not yet responded to this matter.

The human rights organization Hengaw announced in a report that the Islamic Republic of Iran has executed five Afghan citizens in the past month.
