Focus on trade and transit; High-level Iranian delegation arrives in Kabul

According to the announcement by the Taliban’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, the main focus of this visit is to explore new opportunities in commerce, develop transit routes, and expand joint investment between Kabul and Tehran.

The Iranian delegation, which includes government officials and members of parliament, will travel to Herat after official meetings in Kabul to visit the Islam Qala port, railway lines, and mining projects.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Trade added that representatives from the private sector will also meet with the Iranian delegation during this visit.

Although the Islamic Republic of Iran has not yet officially recognized the Taliban regime, it is currently one of Afghanistan’s most important economic partners, with the volume of bilateral trade reaching tens of billions of dollars annually.

A high-level delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran, led by Mohammad Atabak, the Minister of Industry, Mining, and Trade of that country, arrived in Kabul on Monday, 24 Sunbula.
