Attack on hair salons; Taliban arrest female hairdressers in Kabul

These sources said on Wednesday (15 Asad) in a message that Taliban morality police attacked several women’s beauty salons in the Dasht-e-Barchi and Shahr-e-Naw areas of Kabul and confiscated the equipment of these salons.

According to the sources, these female hairdressers were released after a few hours; however, they were warned to stop their activities.

Meanwhile, sources say that some Taliban security zones have allowed these salons to operate in exchange for money; but the Taliban morality police have detained them again and demanded separate payments to allow them to continue their activities.

It is worth mentioning that Hibatullah Akhundzada, the reclusive leader of the Taliban, banned the operation of women’s beauty salons across Afghanistan two years ago by issuing a decree.

Nevertheless, some of these salons, to meet their needs, have continued to operate secretly over the past two years; however, reports indicate that they have repeatedly faced harassment and abuse from the Taliban.

Local sources in Kabul tell “Exile” TV that over the past two days, the Taliban have raided several beauty salons operating secretly and detained female hairdressers.
